Equine Therapy

Equine Assisted Personal Development (EAPD) or Equine Therapy simply means working with and observing horses’ energy to explore elements of self-development. It involves no riding or handling of the horses, but instead, invites you to share a space (in an arena) with a horse and with Kim, the facilitator, who will guide and support you through the transformative experience.

Through the profound energetic interaction with the horse and Kim's questioning techniques, you are able to work through any personal or professional challenges, which may be holding you back from a life of ease, joy and fulfillment.

Studies indicate the effectiveness of equine assisted therapy across age groups; adolescents with depression and anxiety have shown a 60% improvement in symptoms after a 12-week programme, while 80% of veterans with PTSD reported a significant reduction in symptoms.

Interacting with horses creates a non-judgmental environment for self-expression and has been shown to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and decrease stress, whilst improving interpersonal skills, enhancing self-esteem and confidence, and increasing mindfulness and presence.

At Ellasfield, we want to do more to support individuals on their own unique path to improved  mental health and will be celebrating our new collaboration with our horses in 2024 which will involve 1:1 sessions and retreats.
